Looking for fun things to do in Powys? The whole family will enjoy a two-hour return journey through Mid Wales on the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway. Narrow-gauge steam-hauled trains take visitors through lovely countryside and up the steep Golfa Bank, one of the steepest sections of railway line in the UK.
At Llanfair Station there is a Visitor Centre with information about the line and its history, and also the independent Cloverlands Model Car Museum. At Welshpool Station there is the Display Shed housing larger exhibits such as out-of-service steam engines.
Trains can be boarded at either Llanfair Caereinion Station (SY21 0SF) or Welshpool Raven Square station (SY21 7LT).
Please see the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway’s website to confirm details before visiting.
