Blow away the cobwebs on a family day out exploring the glorious Elan Valley near Rhayader in Mid Wales. Covering 70 square miles in the Cambrian Mountains, the estate includes a visitor centre with exhibition and play area, reservoirs, dams, woodland, moorland and bog. Walk, cycle or watch wildlife – families will find plenty of things to do. Cycle hire is available at the Visitor Centre.
In addition, the Elan Valley Estate has been designated an International Dark Sky Park, meaning that the 45,000 acres of this beautiful valley are protected against light pollution. It is a great place to go for stargazing – just visit Elan Valley’s website to get started.

Glorious spot
Unfortunately it was raining when we visited but we could still appreciate the lovely scenery as we drove through the valley - just didn't leave the car, apart from to go into the visitor centre. Will try and pick a sunny day next time!
