The Look Out Discovery Centre

The Look Out Discovery Centre in Swinley Forest offers a fun-filled and educational outing in Berkshire for families. The science exhibition featuring over 90 hands-on science and nature activities. It is a great place to encourage youngsters to engage with science. Activities and exhibits are arranged in various zones, which link to what children may be studying at school.

Launch a hot air balloon, make a mini animation, put together the jigsaw of the human body or test your reactions. How about trying to create an electrical circuit, discovering an infinity mirror or stepping on colour beams as fast as you can?

A wide range of insects, reptiles and amphibians live in the forestry-themed exhibit at The Look Out Discovery Centre. Discover fascinating facts about creatures such as leafcutter ants, hissing cockroaches, African land snails and others.

Outside, but under cover, are the woodland and water and the Build It! zones. Have a go at building a dam in the indoor stream or put on a hi-viz jacket and hard hat to join The Look Out construction crew. If you’ve ever wanted to drive a dumper truck or use a tile chute, this is for you!

On weekends and during school holidays there are interactive science discovery shows to fire the imagination and make science fun – check the website to find out what’s on when you visit. Look out for special toddler days which may include extra activities such as art and craft, storytelling and face or hand painting.
