RHS Garden Wisley, just off the off the main London to Portsmouth road south of Junction 10 of the M25, is a wonderful place for families to spend a day out.
There’s so much to see and do and lots of space for little legs to run around in. The gardens are delightful in all seasons and it is the historic home of the Royal Horticultural Society, housing one of the largest plant collections in the world!
Some of the wonderful areas not to be missed are as follows:
Walk into a huge jungle and experience the changing climates! Follow the path taking you on a tour through the world of plants, including many difficult to grow, rare and endangered species and an impressive waterfall!
Be fascinated by these pieces of living sculpture! They are the result of many years of training, pruning and precision cultivation. See them change with the seasons, some having blossoms or fruit.
A rose garden with a difference! It has lovely plant combinations, demonstrates excellent environmental practice and encourages biodiversity. It also has a pavilion.
Don’t miss the iconic Laboratory building which is surrounded by terraces, interesting plantings and the beautiful Jellicoe Canal, which is home to many fascinating water plants.
With lots of other fun areas and zones to visit, there’s something for everyone and when little ones need refreshments, there are five inviting cafes and restaurants to choose from!
During the school holidays there are fun events just for children, so do look out for them. There’s always lots going on throughout the year, and the annual Flower Show is held in late summer.
There’s also a shop and plant centre with some great gift ideas, high quality plants and good advice.
