Exbury Gardens and Steam Railway details...

Exbury loves families

Inspire a love of the outdoors in children of all ages as they explore the glorious gardens, play areas and new log trail. And, when little legs need a rest from all that activity, travel by steam train to Dragonfly Pond in search of dragonflies and damselflies. Exbury’s exciting programme of interactive events – both entertaining and educational – provide further opportunities for the whole family to get closer to nature.

Gardens

There is always something new to see at Exbury. In summer the 200 acres transform into a shady sanctuary of tranquillity. Don’t miss the Iris, Herbaceous, Sundial and Centenary Gardens, all in bloom with a heady mix of perennials and exotic flowers.

Whatever the season, there is always something going on – donkey days, wildlife walks, falconry displays, live music and theatre events.

Steam Railway

Exbury’s narrow-gauge railway departs from a replica Victorian station ‘Exbury Central’ and travels through a tunnel, over a bridge, round the new Dragonfly Pond and through the Summer Lane Garden, which is only accessible by train.

Food and Drink

Exbury boasts three catering options: Mr Eddy’s Restaurant serving delicious hot meals and hot and cold snacks and refreshments, the Old Tennis Courts outdoor café; serving sandwiches, drinks and cakes, and pop-up food outlets; regularly including gluten-free and vegan caterers.

Bringing your own lunch? Exbury also has a number of picnic tables in beautiful surroundings for visitors to use.

Open daily, March to October, between 10am to 5.30pm. Last admission 4.30pm, but will close at dusk if earlier. The last steam train will usually depart at 3pm.

Please visit their website for further details and to book your tickets.
