Explore the site through interactive displays, games and puzzles that tell the captivating story of how this valley changed the world in the 18th Century with the growth of the cotton industry.

Visit the world’s first successful water powered cotton spinning mill built in 1771 by Sir Richard Arkwright. Step back in time with on a guided or audio tour and discover how Sir Richard Arkwright revolutionised the cotton industry.

It is free to enter the mill yard to visit the shops and cafes.
