August Events at the National Maritime Museum Greenwich

Both children and adult visitors to the National Maritime Museum Greenwich can look forward to a packed programme of events with something for all ages to enjoy. Available activities vary depending on the date of your visit. Highlights include:

• Astronomers Take Over. This is a new space designed for families and will host astronomy activities while works are being carried out at the Royal Observatory Greenwich. Meet astronomers, take part in science demonstrations and ask questions about outer space. Also learn about the night sky with shows in the planetarium, available while the Peter Harrison Planetarium is close at the Royal Observatory. Available daily except Tuesdays and Fridays.
• Unboxing the Universe. Suitable for ages 7 years plus, this multi-sensory live science show will feature live demonstrations from Royal Observatory astronomers and plenty of  hands-on participation. Available Friday to Monday.
• Astronomy LEGO® Brick Club. Learn more about the history of astronomy at this interactive LEGO® and DUPLO® brick workshop for families. Fun for ages 12 years and under. Dates: 7th, 14th and 28th August; 2.30-4.30pm.
• SENsory Sailors on 8th August, from 11am to 12.30pm. Designed for families with children with special educational needs, this monthly session is an chance to discover the collection, be creative and meet other local families. Suitable for ages 13 years and under.
• Family Trails and Backpacks. Collect a family trail or borrow a backpack of activities from the ’Play and Explore’ trolley and set off to explore.
