Viking Raid: Battles, Stories and Hands-On History at Chiltern Open Air Museum

Travel back to the age of the Vikings at Chiltern Open Air Museum in Buckinghamshire over the August Bank Holiday weekend. History comes to life with skirmish and weapons displays, ancient music, living Viking encampments and hands-on activities.

Find out how Viking warriors prepared for battle, see their weapons and armour close up and watch re-enactments of Viking battles. Learn about the history of drumming and their use in communication, ritual and warfare.

Discover how the Vikings lived, from cooking to craftwork, as you explore the living Viking encampment. There will even be opportunities to get involved in daily encampment life with storytelling, archery practice, warrior drills and even setting sail in a Viking longship!
