See Nelson’s uniform from the iconic Battle of Trafalgar and Prince Frederick’s Beautiful gilded barge.
There are lots of things for kids to try and explore at the Museum; aspiring young explorers and pirates can expect an action-packed, fun day out. Get ready to fly like a bird, race a supersonic jet and take an elevator ride to the edge of space in the National Maritime Museum’s special exhibition ’Above and Beyond’ and accompanying events starting from 27 May 2016. The ship’s interactive bridge simulator brings to life the hazards and excitement of handling ships at sea. Remember to bring your sea legs as it might get a bit choppy!
The National Maritime Museum also covers a schools programme that offers a wide variety of onsite learning sessions that cater for Key Stages 1-5 as well as classroom resources. They offer a wide range of sessions led by their experienced learning team. Kids can have fun firing a cannon in the Children’s Gallery or they can explore the people and stories of the past. The Museum also hosts a number of free and ticketed events, from lectures by their curators, music nights to seasonal family celebrations.
