Whether you’re enchanted by beloved storybook characters, captivated by live music, or inspired by the wonders of nature, there’s something for everyone in this exciting line-up.
The magic begins with The Littlest Yak (Sun 2 Feb), a heart-warming musical adaptation of the award-winning children’s book. Follow Gertie, the curly-coated Littlest Yak, as she learns to embrace herself in a tale brimming with beautiful puppetry and uplifting songs. Before the show, children can join a creative pre-show workshop to make their very own Littlest Yak headband, the perfect accessory for this delightful adventure.
Perfect for older children aged 10+ this half term, Knightmare Live 10th Anniversary Tour (Sat 15 Feb) is an unforgettable adventure for families and fans alike. The smash-hit comedy show inspired by the iconic 90s TV cult classic is back, packed with perilous puzzles, bloodthirsty goblins, and laugh-out-loud moments, this hilarious homage will have audiences on the edge of their seats.
Nature takes centre stage in Four Seasons (Fri 21 – Sun 23 Feb), an enchanting ode to the natural world from Olivier Award-winning Little Bulb Theatre. This visually stunning production celebrates the wonders of flora and fauna through puppetry, physical theatre, and a score inspired by the changing seasons, including a fresh take on Vivaldi’s timeless masterpiece. There is also the opportunity to join a special free storytime event at Newbury Library two weeks before the show on Thursday 6 February at 11am.
Gandini Juggling will transport audiences into a world where magic and juggling intertwine, blurring the lines between reality and illusion with their new show Heka (Tue 25 Feb). This incredible performance explores the intricate connection between these two art forms, creating a world where objects materialise, vanish, levitate, and transform before your very eyes.
For music lovers, Newbury favourite Nick Cope brings his whimsical charm to the Corn Exchange stage once again with his brand-new show I’ve Lost My Bobble Hat (Sun 2 Mar). Known for his hit show on CBeebies, Popcast, Nick will perform his infectious, family-friendly songs in a live show that’s guaranteed to have audiences singing and laughing together.
For a fun musical experience for all ages TRASH! (Wed 5 Mar) offers a high-voltage percussion, comic performance with more hi-vis than bin day. The four creative workers/performers will use all kinds of waste, from umbrellas to bin bags, to create a slapstick percussion piece full of wit and humour to charm families and get them tapping along.
Meanwhile, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s cherished tales come to life in two spectacular productions. First, The Gruffalo (Fri 7 – Sun 9 Mar) invites audiences to join Mouse on a daring adventure in the deep, dark wood, with catchy tunes, clever storytelling, and a touch of magic. Then, hop aboard for Room on the Broom (Thu 10 – Sun 13 Apr), a spellbinding adaptation of the much-loved story about a witch and her misfit companions. Pre-show workshops for both productions let children create crafts to enhance their theatre experience.
For the tiniest theatregoers aged 2 months to 2 years, Whipped Up! (Sun 6 Apr) delivers a sensory extravaganza. Set in a 1950s-style diner, this playful comedy follows Dottie, a hapless server navigating the adorable chaos of babies as her demanding customers. With sensory play woven into the show, it’s a delight for little ones and their grown-ups alike.
Illustrator Nick Sharratt invites budding artists to pick up their pencils for a lively Picture Book Drawalong (Tue 15 Apr). This interactive session offers a glimpse into his creative process, tips on drawing favourite characters like Tracy Beaker, and the chance to invent your own creations. With signed books available, it’s a dream event for fans of his colourful worlds.
Curiosity takes the spotlight in The Science Museum Live Stage Show (Wed 16 Apr), a dynamic, interactive performance designed to ignite young imaginations. Packed with mind-blowing demonstrations, this educational adventure promises to entertain and inspire the whole family.
And for a poptastic twist, Pop Princesses (Sat 19 Apr) brings together fairy tale royalty and chart-topping hits in a high-energy concert. With songs by Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, and more, this glittering event is perfect for mini music fans.
