Days Out in February

Half term will soon be here! This year it falls between the  17 & 21 February. We have lots of attractions to visit, take a look at our half term newsletter here alternatively if you are looking for ad-hoc family days out to stop the cabin fever, how about these?

Museums

Be amazed at the Natural History Museum: Meet a roaring T-Rex and feel the ground shake on the earthquake simulator.

Theatre and Art

Join free workshops at Tate Modern: Get messy with clay or engage in a drawing session at one of the many classes.

Settle down for the National Gallery’s storytelling sessions: Fly away on a magic carpet and more in sessions for families with under-fives.

Super Duper Family Festival – The Party 15 – 18 Feb 2025

The Super Duper Family Festival transforms Manchester into a city-wide play zone this February half-term. Join the Party Zone at Aviva Studios featuring a series of family raves from the wonderful Playhouse Project.

Expect all the usual playdoh, bubble-making, parachute games and face-painting for kids and adults – set to a stellar soundtrack!

It’s all put together by The Playhouse Project – a unique family-friendly social event, organised by a crew of seasoned clubbers and DJs from Manchester who are now parents.

Get creative at the Royal Academy of Arts: Encourage budding young artists to get creative with a free Art Detectives pack.

Outdoor Fun:

Yorkshire Sculpture Park – Wakefield, Yorkshire, WF4 4LG

Brighter days mean more outdoor adventures. Set over 500 acres, you’ll find art trails, scavenger hunts and all manner of family fun happening at this stunning open-air gallery over half term.

Dunham Massey – Greater Manchester, WA14 4SJ

The perfect place to experience the first hints of warmer days. Whatever the weather, Dunham Massey in Altrincham is a great one for a fun outdoorsy day.

Half Term History Makers at Bolsover Castle

A boy King! Is it a good idea? Find out what happens when a child is left in charge.

Bolsover Castle this half term is a must to witness historical hijinks. Take part in an interactive show looking at medieval child Kings. Engage in fun sword fighting games for all the family and try on a helmet or feel the weight of a sword at the armour tent.

Half term at Nymans – West Sussex, RH17 6EB

A Story of the Seasons: Sat 15 Feb – Sun 23 Feb, 10am – 4pm. 

-Uncover ‘A Story of the Seasons’ with this nature-based trail around the garden featuring beautiful illustrations and extracts from the book of the same name. The trail is free and normal garden admission applies.

February Half Term Fun at Corfe Castle – Wareham, Dorset

Bring your own teddy or borrow a furry Corfe Castle veteran and get involved with the return of the family favourite teddy bear zip wire.

As your teddy zooms down the zip wire can they help us inspect the work of the conservators as they carry out essential work to conserve Corfe Castle.

Travel back to 1086 on ‘The Conqueror’s Castle’ family quest, help William the Conqueror discover how a team of builders go about building a castle. Hunt the castle ruins for the quest boards, note down your answers as you go to earn your prize.

Packwood House – Lapworth, Warwickshire
