Four of us visited The View from The Shard for sunset last Saturday and all I can say is simply WOW - I can see why they won Attraction of the Year 2018! This is a very well-oiled machine and executed by such a professional team - a lot of them! HEADS UP - do allow for some time to queue but the process is mechanically oiled and you aren't left waiting too long. Prior to entering the lift a photo is taken of you with a plain back drop. You go in the first lift which takes you up to the 32nd floor - in what feels like just a couple of seconds. Then a short walk (again guided by one of the team) around the corner into another lift - up another 30 floors! As soon as you walk into the gallery it's simply breath-taking!! Beautifully lit, background music, lots of fellow viewers admiring the view and taking lots of pictures - even for each other! As we went at Christmas there was the most AMAZING Christmas Tree - a perfect photo back drop. the view's to die for - again especially with all the Christmas lights and views at every angle from the floor to ceiling windows. A bar available too - a perfect opportunity for a glass of bubbles (rude not to)! You are then able to walk up yet another flight of stairs for even better views! We had the most amazing pictures taken under the gorgeous Christmas Arch/Garland. Walk up another flight of steps and as soon as you open the door you know you are outside and its breath-taking knowing how high up you are. You feel as though you are inside but when you look above, the points of the shard are clearly visible with the night sky illuminating behind them. I can certainly see why couples get engaged up there. My 16 year old, Naomi, and friend Holly too were mesmerised - a lovely experience in the memory bank for years to come and a special one for best friends to share (I too was with my best friend Jelana). After about an hour we headed off and at the bottom, sure enough there were professional pics taken that we were able to choose from! A great memory keeper and lots of memorabilia available to choose from. There is also a cafe there for refreshments either upon arrival or as you leave. I would 100% recommend adding The View to the Shard to your London visit/schedule. Not forgetting every time you return to the big city, you can see your special memory from pretty much wherever you are.
