The Look Out Discovery Centre offers a fun-filled day out in Berkshire for families. The centre is all about having fun. There are over 90 hands-on science and nature activities. Launch a hydrogen rocket, make a mini animation, play the light harp or capture your silhouette in the shadow box, test your reaction speed, put together the jigsaw of the human body and more.
Discover fascinating facts about local wildlife and study the colony of leaf-cutter ants. Especially popular with toddlers and younger children are the mini supermarket, indoor stream and ’Build It!’, offering visitors the chance to join The Look Out construction crew. If you’ve ever wanted to drive a dumper truck or use a rubble chute, this is for you!
On weekends and during school holidays there are shows to fire the imagination and make science fun – check the website to find out what’s on when you visit. Look out for special toddler days with extra activities such as art and craft, storytelling and face or hand painting.
There is also a great adventure play area, coffee shop, gift shop, cycle hire facility and 1,000 hectares of woodland to explore with walks, trails and cycle rides. The Family Discoverers’ Trail with information and activities along the way is available from The Look Out reception area.
If there’s a birthday coming up, find out about kids parties at The Look Out. With a party explainer assigned to each group, the kids will get the most out of their visit to the centre. The birthday girl or boy will even receive a special gift from Eric, the mascot owl! Parties are suitable for ages 5-12 years.
