For a great day out with the kids in Newcastle, look no further than Life Science Centre, which offers visitors interactive, hands-on exhibitions, events and theatre shows for all ages, plus the biggest planetarium in the North of England and an exhilarating 4D Motion Ride, all included in the price of admission!
Life Science Centre sits at the heart of the International Centre for Life, a unique science village created in 200. There is a packed programme of science activities as well as special events and birthday parties with the programme changing regularly.
Designed especially for under 7s, the Young Explorers’ Zone provides little ones with the opportunity to explore a shop, a kitchen, a recycling centre and a tree house. They can grow vegetables and sort out the rubbish for recycling!
The Curiosity Zone allows children to explore through experimenting and see where their curiosity takes them and visitors can find out what’s going on inside your head in Life’s Brain Zone.
The Experiment Zone is somewhere over 7s can use real materials and tools and perform practical experiments, either on their own or with others.
The planetarium is well worth a visit, too. Visitors can see a mix of traditional shows and animated films, with some particularly designed for under 7s. Zoom through space, land on planets and journey through the stars, as you learn more about the solar system.
The Science Theatre puts on family-friendly shows covering different themes and encourages audience participation.
Look out for special events running through school holidays and during the winter months, too. You can go for a spin on the outdoor ice rink that provides fun for all the family. This really is a great destination.
