Dornoch Beach details...

An ideal family day out, it’s worth taking a trip to Dornoch Beach. Not only is it perfect for younger kids due to its gentle shallow areas but it is also truly picturesque with its golden sands stretching for miles. Children can do all sorts of activities, from collecting shells, to building sandcastles and paddling. You might even spot the occasional seal or dolphin! It’s also a great spot for dog walking, where you can enjoy a coastal walk to Dornoch Point, which provides excellent photo opportunities. If that’s not enough, Dornoch itself dates back to the 13th century and is wonderfully historic, believed to be the town where the last witch in Scotland was burnt. Dornoch cathedral remains a beautiful feature so those with an interest in art should take the kids to have a look at the remarkable stained glass windows, especially on a sunny day when the designs dazzle in the light.
