For a fascinating step back in time, children should visit the Crystal Palace Museum, which tells the story of the Hyde Park and Sydenham Crystal Palaces. The Crystal Palace was built in Hyde Park to house the Great Exhibition of 1851. The structure was moved to Sydenham Hill, but burnt down in 1936. Guided tours occur monthly through the summer.
