At the heart of the New Forest, Beaulieu is a great family day out with lots for every member of the family to enjoy!
Explore the world famous National Motor Museum where a collection of over 250 historic vehicles tells the story of motoring in Britain. Kids will love seeing family favourites like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and there are plenty of opportunities to pose for photos. Keep an eye out for famous land-speed-record breakers as well as oddities such as a car shaped like an orange!
You can also visit World of Top Gear to see cars from some of the show’s most ambitious challenges and step into the Enormodrome to get a feel of the famous Top Gear studio.
Wander around Palace House, the historic home of the Montagu family, and lose yourself in Beaulieu’s beautiful grounds and gardens. Walk in the footsteps of medieval monks as you explore the stunning ruins of Beaulieu Abbey. Learn about the Abbey’s origins in a fascinating exhibition which is housed in one of the surviving Abbey buildings.
Visit The Secret Army Exhibition, where over 3,000 SOE agents were trained in the dark arts of warfare at Beaulieu, before they undertook daring and dangerous missions behind enemy lines. Leave time to take a ride on the Monorail or see the sights from the open-topped replica 1912 London Bus.
Keep little ones entertained and active with the free Family Fun Trails, a series of fun teasers and puzzles leading through the main Beaulieu attractions. Children can also get behind the wheel of mini-motor cars during school holidays and term time weekends; hands-on excitement for younger visitors below the height of 4’8” (142cm). Keep your eyes peeled for details of even more special activities during the school holidays!
When it’s time to recharge your batteries, you can enjoy a picnic in the delightful grounds or tuck into some delicious food in the Brabazon restaurant.
Throughout the year there are a whole host of fun events, with something for the whole family to enjoy. Look out for the Fireworks Spectacular, choreographed to music, held at the end of October. It is known to be one of the largest firework displays in the south of England.
