Battle it out at Arundel Castle

Arundel Castle is under siege by French forces in a thrilling three-day re-enactment of 15th century combat techniques this May Bank Holiday weekend.

Take the children back to the time of Richard III when Lancastrian and French troops surrounded Arundel Castle in 1485 with the hope of taking the fortress and then planning an invasion. There will be cannons, live combat demonstrations plus a a sprawling medieval encampment to explore and meet craftsmen, cooks, apothecaries, leather workers and armourers and learn how their roles contribute to success in combat.

Kids go for a quid on Bluebell Railway

During May half term there are pirate shows, treasure hunts and pirate battles at Hatton Adventure World near Warwick. While Derbyshire’s Crich Tramway Village is transforming itself into a seaside resort complete with a beach, deck chairs and buckets and spades for kids and of course the national collection of trams to ride on.
