Historical re-enactment days out

Exploring castles, jousting, playing knights and princesses in historical re-enactments are all activities children do love and luckily there are not only amazing castles scattered all over the United Kingdom, but many have organised fabulously authentic re-enactment of historical events.  Jousting at Knebworth House this coming Father’s Day is one such event.

Jousting, archery, falconry displays, demonstrations and food. Just a few of the experiences your family can get involved in at these fantastic at castles across the country.

Re-Enactment days can either be fantastic shows where kids can watch jousting and sword battles or special activities that they can really engage with such as games to test skills and courage, the chance to dress up as Princesses and Knights, getting pampered with a 1940’s inspired hairdo, crafts and more hands on activities.

Great slice of History

Whilst these days out are lots of fun they can also provide a great educational opportunity for your kids who are learning about British history at school, to get this hands-on experience will help them to learn more visually and makes the learning process much more fun! Before you visit a castle why not check online to see if they have any activity packs or kids guides to take with you for the day, alternatively you could come up with some of your own quizzes and games for the day out.
