It’s always exciting this time of year for World Book Day when kids start talking about their favourite book or character. We have taken a look and pulled together some of the special events for this year, plus a link to some great costume ideas. Is there a book there your kids would love? Well here’s how to pick one up: World Book Day, in partnership with schools all over the country, will be distributing more than 15 million £1 World Book Day book tokens to kids.When you get your book token, all you need to do is to take it to your local bookseller (find your local participating bookshop here) – and swap it for one of the ten books listed above (exclusive, new and completely FREE).
You can celebrate World Book Day at some fantastic events popping up across the country. Find one close to you by clicking here. We love the look of The Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre event on Saturday 3rd March between 11am – 5pm! Kids can join in with Writing Hut Talks, make a Dirty Beast in the Crafty Kitchen, and follow a trail around the Museum. You can even visit the shop to exchange your World Book Day voucher for one of those great £1 books. There will also be a prize for the best costume, so dig out those character costumes that your kids want to dress as! If you are stuck for some dress up ideas the official World Book Day site offers some great suggestions.
On Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th March you can also go and see the iconic, world famous Teletubbies in their first ever theatre show created especially for your little ones at Assembly Hall. Join Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po, and all of their friends in a show full of love and laughter. We even have a competition running to win a family ticket!
Later in March new cinema release Peter Rabbit (released on 16th March) will be the perfect family treat. It’s a children’s classic since Beatrix Potters The Tale of Peter Rabbit was published all the way back in 1902! This new adaptation blends live-action with animation to create what’s set to be the film for Easter 2018.
