Their next top event is the JORVIK Viking Festival. It is a perfect day out in February half term, with loads of events to entertain and educate the whole family! Visit the Viking encampment, try sword-fighting, hear sagas, do some hands-on Viking crafts and see real Vikings throng the streets of York.


 National Coal Mining Museum, West Yorkshire

National Coal Mining Museum is one of the best places to go whatever the weather.

Pop on a hard hat and lamp then go an adventure 140m underground into England’s last deep coal mine, talking to charismatic former-miners as they tell the tales of their careers. Explore the galleries, meet the ponies, walk through the woods and let off steam in the adventure playground.
