Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre details...

The University of Manchester Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre offers great days out for all the family whatever the weather. Walk around the base of the enormous Lovell Telescope and contemplate the wonders of the universe.

Visit the Planet Pavilion, the Space Pavilion and the Star Pavilion. Start your visit by exploring the clockwork Orrery, investigate the size of our solar system and the scale of the Milky Way using interactive games. Get hands-on with activities that will show how radio telescopes help to understand distant objects in space, explore the wonders of the Universe, listen to the sound of the Big Bang, and find out about Big Telescopes.

Come back down to earth when you spend some time exploring the 35 acres of parkland and arboretum, head for the picnic area and Space Playground, with great views of the giant Lovell Telescope.

Look out for the family friendly events held regularly and workshops in school holidays. Older children would appreciate the telescope evenings and lectures.

The cafe offers a full menu which is centred round the British seasons using quality, local ingredients.

Under 4s have free entry.
