The Wyre Forest offers a fun-packed kids day out in the great outdoors with plenty to enjoy for free. There is a family mountain bike trail, on-site bike hire facility, children’s play area, wonderful wildlife, beautiful picnic sites, three waymarked walking trails, Gruffalo sculptures and orienteering, Go Ape courses and more.
The Woodpecker Walking Trail is just over two miles in length, taking visitors into the Valley of the Giants and past the Whittypear. Look out for seasonal learning panels with information about life in the forest. Meanwhile, the all-ability Wren Walking Trail is ideal for short legs and has lots of benches. Don’t miss sculptures The Sleeping Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child along the route.
Alternatively, for a family map reading challenge, try Gruffalo Orienteering and set off to find twelve Gruffalo markers deep in the wood. Collect a Gruffalo orienteering leaflet before you start.
Charges apply for the car park and certain activities such as bike hire, orienteering and Go Ape.
Please see Forestry England’s website for more information before travelling.
