Severn Valley Railway details...

Looking for places to go with the kids in the West Midlands? Treat the family to a thrilling journey of adventure at the Severn Valley Railway. Get on board one of the Railway’s lovingly-restored heritage steam trains for an exciting trip back in time through the stunning scenery of the Severn Valley.

Admire the fantastic views and maybe even spot the odd rhino or elephant as you pass along the 16-mile line from Kidderminster in Worcestershire to Bridgnorth in Shropshire! Passengers are able to hop on and off at any one of the six historic stations en route.

Head to the Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley Station. The centre is packed to the rafters with fun, interactive exhibits to keep all the family busy. There you will find the reserve collection of full-size steam locomotives. Get on to the footplate and find out what it’s like to drive a train, sort the mail in the travelling post office, and learn how a steam train works at the Peter’s Railway Young Engineers Centre.

While at the Engine House Visitor Centre, visitors can enjoy a bite to eat at the Flag & Whistle Food Stop with its panoramic views over the Severn Valley and the kids can burn off some steam on the outdoor, railway-themed play area.

Anyone looking for a day out with a difference can head to any of the SVR’s fantastic events, including Spring and Autumn Steam Galas, Spring Diesel Festival, Step Back to the 1940s Weekends, Peep Behind the Scenes, Classic Vehicle Day, Ghost Trains and the ever-popular Santa Steam Specials.

Please see the Severn Valley Railway’s website for further details.
