Wimbleball Lake Country Park in Somerset has lots to offer families who enjoy the great outdoors. Set in Exmoor National Park, there are miles of footpaths, a nine-mile walk around the beautiful lake, cycle routes, picnic areas, angling, a play area and a watersports centre.
The woodlands are perfect for den builders and young naturalists. Budding engineers will be fascinated by the impressive Wimbleball Dam with its cascade of water.
Exmoor National Park is one of a handful of sites in the world that have been designated an International Dark Sky Reserve. Wimbleball Lake itself is a Dark Sky Discovery Site and a fantastic place for stargazing. Telescopes may be available to hire from the National Park Centres in Dulverton, Dunster and Lymouth.
