Investigate the life of a weaver, see the Victorian classroom, discover how cotton cloth is made and have a go at weaving. The Oak Mount Mill is a short walk along the canal tow path from the visitor centre. Opened in 1830, the mill continued to produce cotton until 1979, making it one of the last steam-powered mills in Burnley to close. Explore the area named the Weavers Triangle, there are many buildings from the days when the town led the world in the production of cotton cloth. A largely unbroken sequence of weaving sheds and spinning mills encloses the Leeds & Liverpool canal, making it one of the finest surviving Victorian industrial landscapes in the country.
