The UK Games Expo is a great day out (or three days out!) for all the family. So head to the NEC Birmingham and have fun playing games and spending quality time together. At this annual event during May half term, you can learn to play board games, storytelling games, strategy games, card games and more.
Demonstrators are on hand to show you how to play and advise on what will be fun. You can even play brand new games no one has seen yet and talk to the people who make them. The dedicated Family Zone focuses on families and kids playing games together with a range of family games both competitive – against each other – and also collaborative – playing as a team against the game.
At the Paint and Take experts will teach you how to build and paint a model which you then take home with you for free. The children’s treasure hunt has amazing prizes to be won each day. Why not visit the Viking Village or get your picture taken with Stormtroopers, Daleks or other characters in costume?
Meanwhile, you can use the Open Gaming Area to play games you have brought or bought, or just borrow one of over a thousand games from the board game library (returnable £10 deposit). Also, there are hundreds of exhibitors for both shopping and demoing games. Don’t forget to grab your free 100+ page, magazine-style programme letting you know what’s on and where.
All of this is included with your entry ticket! On top of this there is face painting, live shows and entertainment, tournaments and seminars. Feel free to dress up as your favourite character and get involved with everything about games.
As well as food within the NEC itself, you can visit Chow Street, a food court set up outside the Hilton Hotel with a variety of styles of tasty grub, or you can make your way to one of the many restaurants in Resort World next to the NEC.
