Tower of London details...

No family trip to London is complete without a visit to the famous Tower of London! You can find fascinating exhibitions, especially designed for families and schools, as well as family activities, including family trails exploring the gory details of the Tower of London’s past. Despite the Tower of London’s gruesome reputation as a place of death and torture, within the wall you can discover the history of the royal palace, armoury and its role as a powerful fortress.

Join one of the iconic Beefeaters on a tour and hear their gory tales, learn about the wild and extraordinary Royal Beasts that used to inhabit the tower, stand where famous heads have rolled, learn the legend of the iconic tower ravens, reach to the top of battlements and get to grip with the swords and armour and take a peek at the priceless Crown Jewels! There’s plenty to do with families and schools with the tower filled with stories to tell. There are a number of trails to try including the interactive trail for families to complete. Famous stories have been mixed and jumbled up, can you put them back together again?

Meet characters from the past, handle objects and look for clues and see if you connect the pieces as you explore 1,000 years of history. Trails are free and are available throughout the year. The tower also offers a variety of sessions for schools, with National Curriculum-based sessions led by the Tower’s experts. Every session is supported by a full range of resources so kids can make the most of their visit. The sessions offer a number of different areas of study from the Normans to the War of the Roses.
