One of the interesting places to go in Wiltshire is the REME Museum at MoD Lyneham. This family-friendly museum looks after the heritage of the Corps of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, which has recovered and repaired all types of Army equipment since 1942.
Displays include over one hundred vehicles from the Second World War, weapons, models, uniforms, medals awarded to REME soldiers and even sand from Dunkirk, which came to England in a soldier’s battledress uniform. There are also quizzes and interactives.
The Museum is normally open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10am-4.30pm.
Please check the REME Museum’s website for details of temporary exhibitions, family activities and special events.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Learn more at the REME Museum in Wiltshire as you follow the special family trail from 10th February onwards.
