A popular place for a family trip is Tarr Steps, near Dulverton. Medieval in origin, this ancient clapper bridge across Exmoor’s River Barle is constructed from large stone slabs and is 55 metres long. By car approach it from the Liscombe side of the Barle, as there is a ford, which is too deep for most vehicles.
