Embark on an adventure at the Severn Valley Railway, an award-winning heritage railway visitor attraction, running through 16-miles of beautiful Worcestershire and Shropshire countryside. Climb on-board and step back in time to experience the golden age of travel with journeys behind original steam trains and heritage diesel locomotives. Discover beautifully restored original stations along the line, plus fascinating towns and villages, as well as The Engine House Visitor Centre. A great day out for all the family.
The Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley, is full to the rafters with fun, interactive exhibits to keep all the family busy. There you will find the reserve collection of full-size steam locomotives. Step on to the footplate and find out what it is like to drive a train, sort the mail in the travelling post office and learn how a steam train works at the Peter’s Railway Young Engineers Centre.
While at The Engine House Visitor Centre, enjoy a bite to eat at the café with its balcony views over the Severn Valley. Meanwhile, children can let off some steam on the outdoor, railway-themed play area.
Anyone looking for a day out with a difference can head to any of the SVR’s fantastic events, including the Spring and Autumn Steam Galas, Step Back to the 1940s weekends, Ghost Trains and the ever-popular Santa Trains.
