The Royal Naval Air Station (RNAS) Yeovilton International Air Day will take place on Saturday 7th July 2018. This fantastic one-day event showcases the Fleet Air Arm’s current and future capabilities together with its historic accomplishments spanning over 100 years. One of the busiest military airfields in the UK and home to many aircraft operating in front-line squadrons and training units, the Somerset air station expects to welcome up to 40,000 visitors.
The show will include over five hours of dazzling flying displays featuring fast jets, historic warbirds, helicopters and formation aerobatic display teams. In addition there will be role demonstrations enhanced by spectacular pyrotechnics and flares. The aim is to display the world’s most capable pilots and their aircraft, both in the air and on the ground, and to offer the chance to view some magnificent equipment and meet professional personnel in a family-friendly environment. This is an ideal opportunity to inspire the next generation of engineers in the Year of Engineering.
This show has everything to entertain the whole family. There will be a vast range of showground attractions, from the latest defence technology exhibitions, engineering fairs and service displays to trade stalls, arena displays, military bands and the chance to meet pilots and even sit in the cockpit! For the thrill seekers, there will be simulators, fairground rides and helicopter pleasure flights to enjoy.
The fantastic line-up is becoming increasingly international with participants confirmed from all over Europe and further afield. There are some extremely rare and eagerly anticipated flying performances planned, such as the tremendously agile and extraordinary Flying Bulls Bo105 ’heli-batics’ display. Making their air show debut will be the CF-18 Hornet Demonstration Team from the Royal Canadian Air Force – one of the world’s most dynamic and powerful solo fast jet displays!
Whether you are a first timer or a dedicated aviation enthusiast, the Royal Naval Air Station International Air Day has something for everyone.
