One of the things to do with the children in Lancashire is visit the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment Museum where a real soldier welcomes you to see the displays about the Territorial Army, Rifle Volunteers, Home Guard and Cadets. The Museum is housed in the grade II listed traditional home of the old county infantry regiments in Fulwood Barracks, Preston in the heart of Lancashire. It is the finest surviving example of a Victorian barrack design and has the largest Regimental archive and military historical research centre in the North of England.
There are lots of things to do with the kids including children dressing up, helmets to try, jigsaws, court competition and the chance to handle (in safety) some of the military equipment. Suitable for children over 6 years.
Open 10am until 4pm, Tuesday to Thursday and Saturday except for two weeks over Christmas and New Year or by special arrangement. Adults will be required to show photo ID such as a driving licence for entry to the museum as this is a military site. Car Parking and entry is free of charge.
