On arrival at Pensthorpe, children can pick up a WildRootz passport to go on the fascinating WildRootz Trail and learn lots of interesting facts about the wildlife, while looking for stamping stations around the park.
The 7,000 square-metre outdoor play area encourages children to play and explore in natural habitats. There are a large variety of birds, insects and mammals, so children can look out for red squirrels and discover creepy-crawlies on the Bug Walk!
When little legs are tired, everyone can climb aboard the Pensthorpe Explorer (March to September for an additional charge) for an adventure through the more remote areas of the reserve.
There is also Hootz House for children, where the outdoors goes indoors and where they can make their way over rope bridges, climb enormous tree towers, crawl through the hollows and race down winding slides.
Pensthorpe is also home to three beautiful gardens. The Millennium Garden is most colourful from June to September, with an acre of colour and texture. The Wildlife Habitat Garden is planted with species designed to invite insects and mammals into the beautiful water-focused setting.
The Wave Line Garden is a woodland garden, with two interesting sculptures and beautiful views. The conservation of wildlife and wildlife habitats are very important to Pensthorpe and families will enjoy the nature trails, bird hides, sounds of water voles along the Wensum River and the walk-through aviaries.
With so much to see and do, Pensthorpe is a perfect day out for everyone.
