Holkham Hall details...

Holkham is a beautiful place rich in wildlife, history and architecture. It is set in an epic landscape, combining unspoilt coastline, big skies and open countryside. Take in a spot of culture and visit the magnificent 18th century hall and explore the six acres of walled garden, part of an exciting restoration project. They are also the winner of the Best Family Day Out category in the 2017 Hudson’s Heritage Awards!

Children will love to visit the Field to Fork Experience and discover the fun and interactive story of food and farming at Holkham, without having to put wellies on! Let the ‘talking tools’ tell you their use; test your foody knowledge with the table-top game; enjoy the ‘Holkham Year’ film and don a Holkham tweed jacket and bowler hat for a selfie!

Look out for the fun new attraction for 2017! You can  climb on board the virtual tractor driving experience and learn how to steer a tractor along the road and over fields, changing gears and ploughing a furrow. This will surely test your manoeuvring skills!

To tie in with the Field to Fork Experience, Holkham have built a bespoke scaled model of a combine harvester, complete with slide, tunnels and driving seat. Let’s make farming fun!

Outside, there’s a lovely Woodland Adventure Play Area, with its tree house, high level walkways, rope ladders and zip wire, plus a special area just for toddlers. On high days and holidays families can explore further with cycle hire or discover Holkham’s watery world with a choice of rowing boats, canoes and kayaks.

When your day comes to an end and little legs get tired, you can finish off your visit in the Courtyard Café, where only the best, locally-sourced food is served. There is also a gift shop, showcasing the work of local artisan suppliers. Remember to look out for children’s events through the season.

Holkham Hall’s main season is from the 1st April to 31st October and it is open from 12noon-4pm on Sundays, Mondays and Thursdays. The Field to Fork Experience is open from 10am-4pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

The hall is also open for Easter and Halloween. Please note that the Hall will be closed on the 23rd July this year. From the 1st November to 22nd December 2017 only the Courtyard Café and Gift Shop are open from 10am-4pm every day. For further opening times, please visit the website.
