The magnificent 17th century ducal palace was built on the site of the original Medieval Castle from 1067. The Castle has had a turbulent past, linked to kings and conquerors until it was opened to the public as a museum and art gallery in 1878.
Look out for the changing exhibitions and events or take a cave tour into the labyrinth of manmade caves and tunnels under the castle (extra charge).
Children under 5 years have free entry. Open daily, check times before visiting.
