Monkey World Р Ape Rescue Centre in Dorset is a great place to bring the family for the day. This internationally-acclaimed centre on a 65-acre site near Wareham is home to over 250 rescued and endangered primates of more than 20 different species, which include Gibbons, Chimpanzees, Woolly Monkeys and Orang-utans. The Centre provides sanctuary to monkeys and apes from all over the world and the expert team of primate care staff work around the clock to rehabilitate and integrate the animals into natural living groups. Any visit to Monkey World combines fun with conservation and animal education for people of all ages and observation windows are an excellent way of allowing visitors to get close-up views of some of the primates, watching them play and interact together. Visitors can either self-guide around the park or join a personal guided tour of the park with one of the Education Officers lasting 75 minutes (an extra charge applies and tours need to be booked in advance), seeing the primates in their different enclosures and hearing about their individual stories. Educational talks are also available to school groups and kids clubs and education packs linked to the national curriculum are offered. The outdoor play equipment is impressive and kids will enjoy spending hours of fun playing on the different pieces of equipment. The Centre is also a fun venue to hold a birthday party at on that special day (though not during school or bank holidays) and party guests get to spend unlimited time in the park as well as having full access to the play facilities. Check out the events programme, which runs through the year and offers something for everyone.
