Step back to the past on a family day out at Llancaiach Fawr Manor in South Wales. Join a tour and see history come alive as a costumed servant shows visitors around this semi-fortified manor, restored and furnished how it would have been in 1645. Listen to gossip and experience the sounds and smells. Tours last approximately 90 minutes. Outside are attractive gardens.
Visit the free-to-enter exhibition to learn more about the history of the manor and see objects uncovered at the site. Look out for the ’Talking Portraits’ of King Charles I and Oliver Cromwell, which offer a great introduction to the Civil War and the differences between the Royalists and the Parliamentarians. There is also an interactive touch table with games encouraging children to find out more about the lives of the people who lived at Llancaiach Fawr Manor.
Admission to certain facilities including the exhibition and gardens is usually free.
Please see Llancaiach Fawr Manor’s website to find out more.
