When you are planning days out in Durham head to Diggerland where you will discover the ultimate family adventure park. As the only attraction where children and adults can ride, drive and operate real diggers, dumper trucks and full-size construction machinery, Diggerland provides a perfect place to go with the kids with heaps of fun guaranteed! Sited on what was a former industrial site and is now a regenerated area, Diggerland offers families a unique experience for everyone over the age of 4 years.
Have a go on over 20 rides and drives; with brand new ones added each year; most rides are included in the general admission price with a few exceptions such as the dodgems and individual coin-operated rides. For daring drivers, have a go on the specially designed Mini Land Rovers track or negotiate your way on the JCB Robots course. Unique to Diggerland, ride the world famous ’Spindizzy’, sit in the bucket of a JCB, be elevated and spun like crazy! Get your hands on the controls of a real JCB and experience the power of a monster 3CX or Diggerland’s Giant Dirt Diggers! Visitors hoping for a gentler experience can ride on ’Skyshuttle’. It will lift you over 15 metres into the air to enjoy awe-inspiring views across the Durham countryside. Don’t forget to stop off at Diggerland Goodie Store to buy a memento of the day.
This is a great venue for an unforgettable digger birthday party, where kids will feel very grown up operating a range of diggers. The Diggerland Host will ensure the party visitors enjoy 2 hours of action before scrumptious party food plus 4 adults can have free entry with the party group.
There is a soft play area for children aged 3-12 years that offers an alternative in poor weather. Diggerland can be just as much fun in the rain, some might even prefer the muddy conditions, all the attractions stay open except ‘Spindizzy’ and ‘Skyshuttle’ does not operate in very windy conditions for safety reasons. There are height restrictions for all the rides and drives, children under 80cm can only ride the land train but children between 80-90 cm have a much wider choice, check your children’s heights and refer to the height guide. Children under 90 cm have free entry, tickets can be purchased online.
Lockdown is easing further and it is great news that both indoor and outdoor attractions are open to visit once again. We hope you and your children enjoy a wonderful day out after so long. Please check COVID-secure measures set out by the venue before you travel and note any changes to opening times.
The Let’s Go Team is delighted to be back in action inspiring you with ideas.
