For an interesting day out in the West Midlands, you will not go wrong with Coventry Transport Museum. This vast museum relaunched in June 2015 after a £9m extension and redevelopment programme.
See a huge collection of British road transport, much of which was designed, built and loved by the people of Coventry. Learn the stories behind the people who made Coventry the centre of the world’s motor and cycle industries. Get up close to vehicles that defined some of history’s most important moments. Find yourself face to face with cars ThrustSSC and Thrust2, which both set land speed records.
Admire the cars that your parents and grandparents may have driven and learn about what people may drive in the future. There is so much to see that the museum has compiled a list of 20 unmissable Star Vehicles – download it before you visit. Look out for vehicles such as Queen Mary’s Daimler, the Sky Blues Bus or Ted Simon’s Triumph Tiger 100 and discover their history.
There is an ever-changing programme of exhibitions, events and activities for children, especially in the school holidays.
All tickets include annual return admission for free – buy online in advance or on arrival.
Coventry residents with a valid GoCV card receive free entry.
Please see Coventry Transport Museum’s website for more information before visiting.
