College Lake near Tring gives pleasure to wildlife watchers of all ages. Formerly a chalk quarry, it has a mix of different habitats and is a flagship nature reserve of the local Wildlife Trust, particularly for water birds. Numerous hides overlook the lake and there is a visitor centre and a programme of family events during school holidays.
