Carisbrooke Castle has lived through more than 800 years of service, including resisting a siege by the French and seeing off the Spanish Armada.
At the heart of the island’s history, Carisbrooke is where King Charles I was imprisoned. Have a go on the bowling green, which was used by the defeated king.
Children can dress up as Norman soldiers or Civil War troopers in the gatehouse.
Families can meet the castle’s famous and lovable donkeys, who have been used t0 draw up water in the well-house for hundreds of years.
