As part of a visit to Brighton, the Brighton Toy and Model Museum is a must for children! All the family will have a wonderful time spotting items of great interest.
Housed in four of the early Victorian arches which support Brighton Railway Station and founded in 1991, the Museum has over ten thousand toys and models in its archive, not to mention two working model train layouts.
Explore toys from as early as the mid 18th century! Most of the exhibits focus on the golden age of toy making during the first half of Twentieth Century, so many visitors can keep an eye out for things that make them say ‘I remember those!’.
The displays have a huge variety of toys and models including cars, boats, soft toys, lead figures, dolls and doll house furniture and puppets! Children will love the priceless model train collections, largely from Great Britain but also from across Europe and the USA.
Situated, on Trafalgar street and only a 2 minute walk from Brighton station, the museum is ideally situated as a jumping off point to explore Brighton’s colourful North Laine area and then on to see the other cultural aspects of the city.
While the museum does not have a café, there are a plethora of eating and drinking establishments to suit any taste within a couple of minutes of the front door and as your museum ticket allows any number of returns in the same day, going out to get some lunch doesn’t present a problem!
The Museum’s opening hours are as follows:
Tuesday to Friday – 10am to 5pm.
Saturday – 11am to 5pm.
Sunday and Monday – Closed
