Explore the Power of the Performing Arts with Stagecoach

Set your child’s imagination alight with classes and workshops from Stagecoach Performing Arts. With classes across the UK running weekly during term time and a whole host of workshops running throughout the school holidays, there are plenty of opportunities to see how the performing arts can empower your child with confidence and skills to last them a lifetime.

How can the performing arts benefit your child?

Giving children the chance to explore the performing arts has been found to boost confidence, academic performance and even children’s mental health. At Stagecoach, students take part in singing, dancing and acting classes. Combining these three key disciplines gives enables students to make the most of the variety of benefits and skills the performing arts hold for children and young people.

This includes core skills that will equip them for life’s challenges. This is what Stagecoach call “Creative Courage For Life” and these core skills include:

  • Growing confidence
  • Expanding imagination and creativity
  • Building resilience
  • Exploring teamwork and improving communication skills
  • Boosting empathy and social skills
  • Finding a fun way to exercise and express themselves

For Born Performers, and Those Yet to Step into the Spotlight

However, that’s not the only reason 60,000 students around the world head to Stagecoach’s classes. Whilst many students come to Stagecoach because they would like to pursue a future career in the performing arts, many also come to class to work on their confidence, and to make new friends outside of their mainstream education. Everyone is welcome, there are no auditions to enrol, and no prior performing experience is required.

For those who wish to take their love of singing, dancing and acting further, Stagecoach is there to support with many schools offering exams with certified exam boards such as LAMDA and RSL to gain key qualifications. Plus, Stagecoach is part of Trafalgar Education who run additional workshop opportunities with professional performers as part of their Industry Experience Events with Audition Ready.

Plus, Stagecoach have regular performance opportunities at regional and West End venues, and some students even have the chance to perform at Disneyland Paris!

Need an Activity for the School Break? Try Holiday Workshops

The performing arts fun doesn’t stop when it gets to the school holidays with many Stagecoach schools offering workshops through the breaks. These can vary by dates, from one-day workshops to full weeks. The content and themes of these can also vary so we’d recommend checking the Stagecoach website to see what workshops they have available near you.

Workshops are open to all children and young people, you don’t need to be a student in term time to come to a workshop and no Stagecoach uniform is required. At the end of the workshop, family and friends are invited to watch a performance piece the workshop students have put together, making each workshop a memorable experience for everyone involved.

What are the Class Options?

All Stagecoach schools offer classes for ages four to 18, with some starting at age two and some offering classes for adults too.

Classes are:

  • Early Stages for ages four to six. These are 90-minute weekly classes where students are encouraged to begin their performing arts journey with the guide of a friendly teacher and teaching assistant.
  • Main Stages for ages six to 18, with classes broken down into three age-appropriate groups. These are three-hour weekly classes which see students work with a designated teacher in each of the three performing arts disciplines, spending an hour on each to develop their skills.

Some Stagecoach schools also offer:

  • Mini Stages classes for ages two to four. These are 45-minute sessions where young children are joined by a parent or carer to have fun exploring storytelling and their imagination.
  • Further Stages classes for ages 14+. These are classes aimed at older students who would like to take their performing arts education to the next level. Students work as a theatre group to explore the professional side of the performing arts.
  • Adult classes for ages 18+. These classes see adults take to the stage with Stagecoach’s same focus on singing, dancing and acting. Just like with the children’s classes, no prior experience is necessary so if you’d like to have a go at performing yourself, this is your opportunity!

New hobbies, new memories and new friendships

Stagecoach Performing Arts sees students join classes which are designed to be fun, engaging and tailored to the students in the class. Whilst there is no set curriculum, Stagecoach has its own Educational Framework which details what skills students should be developing at each stage with the flexibility for teachers to determine their class content to fit the interests of the students they have in their classes.

To give children and young people the chance to experience the classes before you sign up to a full term, Stagecoach offers a Two-Week Trial which allows time for students to meet their teachers and classmates, and have a taster of what Stagecoach is all about.

Every Stagecoach school is different but what unites them all is the focus on delivering high-quality performing arts classes that give students Creative Courage and encourage them to have fun while they’re doing it.
