Windermere Jetty Museum in Cumbria details...

Windermere Jetty Museum of Boats, Steam and Stories is located on the shores of  Windermere, the museum in Cumbria will take you on a journey through sights, smells and sounds to life on the lake.

Steam launches, sailing yachts, motor boats and record-breaking speed boats are exhibited in the boathouse, on the water, and in exhibition galleries. The live conservation workshops will be open every day where you can see heritage boats being painstakingly restored.

The kids can try the Codebreaker game to explore the museum galleries and search for clues and uncover answers around the museum and then use the nautical flag alphabet to crack the code. Hear tales of workers and boat owners, their lives and adventures, and discover the fascinating developments in design and technology that drove boat-building in the Lake District.

Book a trip out on the lake aboard the heritage boat ’Osprey’, one of the fully-restored Edwardian steam launches and then enjoy a treat in the cafe.
