Westminster Abbey details...

Immerse yourself in a must-see living pageant of British history. Join over one million visitors who come to explore this 700-year-old building filled with stories of Kings, Queens, statesman, soldiers, poets, priests, heroes and villains.

Audio guides are free with individual entry tickets and come in eleven languages. Alternatively there’s the highly popular verger-led tours, which start at the North Door and include a tour of the Shrine, which contains the tomb of Saint Edward the Confessor, the Royal Tombs, Poets’ Corner, the Cloister and the Nave.

For a different perspective on this grand attraction, visit after hours on a Wednesday and enjoy a special dinner at the Cellarium Café and Terrace before embarking on a self-guided tour around the Coronation Chair, which was made for King Edward I, Lady Chapel and the Grave of the Unknown Warrior.

Children will enjoy exploring the three original gardens within the Abbey. Soak up the spiritual refreshment of the lush green turf in The Garth, where the monks wandered to rest their eyes and minds, before enjoying physical rejuvenation in The Little Cloister Garden with its borders of scented plants and The College Garden used for growing medicinal plants and herbs.

At The Abbey Shop you can pick up a variety of mementos from this London landmark, such as bespoke silver jewellery inspired by the surrounding art and architecture, books, CDs, scarves, ties, accessorise and beautifully made gifts for birthdays, christenings and Christmas.

Guided tours for school visits are advised to book in advance.
