Include a visit to the family-friendly Victoria Art Gallery in your day out in Bath. With free entry to its permanent collection, this art gallery in the very centre of the historic city is a great way to introduce children of all ages to the world of art.
The Upper Gallery is free to visit and home to more than 100 stunning artworks including works by renowned artists such as Thomas Gainsborough, Gillian Ayres, Grayson Perry and a Tudor portrait of Henry VIII after Holbein. The Lower Gallery houses changing exhibitions.
Throughout the year, young visitors are welcomed with gallery trails and, worksheets. See the Art Explorers Area where you’ll find dressing up, toys, colouring sheets and art explorer baskets – everything you need for the perfect family trip.
The Gallery runs Toddler Thursdays every week during school term-time – drop in, no need to book. Messy play and story time take place in the new Modelling Room.

For expert-led workshops in the new Modelling Room see the Mini Makers programme. Making use of a wide range of facilities these paid for craft sessions are enhanced with printing, painting and other art techniques. Booking recommended. £5 per making participant.
Before you visit, check the website to find out what’s on. There is pushchair access via the gallery’s side door and lift access to the first floor. Free child carriers and baby changing facilities are available.
