A famous viewpoint high above the River Wye, Symonds Yat Rock is a great base for free days out in the Wye Valley and Forest of Dean. Use RSPB telescopes to spot peregrine falcons nesting on nearby cliffs in summer (see www.rspb.org.uk for details) and then follow a forest trail. Car park charge applies.
