Just six miles from Birmingham city centre, Sutton Park covers 2,400 acres of heathland, woodlands, wetlands and lakes. Cattle and wild ponies graze freely. With cycle and foot paths, nature trails, orienteering, wildlife, two playgrounds and a visitor centre, families will find plenty of free things to do. Car parking charges may apply.
The Donkey Sanctuary has a base in the park (telephone 0121 354 9444) and is open at designated times to visitors. Pop in and watch the donkeys grazing in the paddocks or being cared for in the stable areas. You may even have the chance to stroke a donkey if one approaches.
