Stowe House details...

Stowe House is a grade I listed 18th-century country house in Stowe, Buckinghamshire, England. It is the home of Stowe School, an independent school and is owned by the Stowe House Preservation Trust who have to date spent more than £25m on the restoration of the house.

Filled with astonishing rooms imitating ancient worlds and classical ruins, the House reflects the flamboyant and colourful characters of its creators. Ceilings and walls decorated with hidden messages and mythology hint at the family’s former power and glory.

Visit Stowe House to discover fascinating stories of how extravagant parties, royal visits and Italian Grand Tours gave way to scandal, intrigue and debt, which brought one of England’s richest families to its knees and the house close to demolition.

There are lots of exciting family activities on offer at Stowe House during the holidays:
• Explore the Discovery Centre (museum space) and discover talking portraits
• Pick up one of the free multimedia guides
• Take part in creative workshops and other family activities
• Play with the fantastical furniture inside the house or enjoy some time on the lawn outside with the soft play toys
• Wander through the beautiful state rooms at your own pace

During term time families are welcome on all of the guided tours. A selection of colouring in and toys are available in their café/shop.

Stowe House is a family-friendly place to visit. They have unisex baby-change facilities, are buggy-friendly (there is a platform lift on entry to the House) and have plenty for everyone to do. Cold drinks, snacks, hot chocolates and babyccino (hot frothy milk!) are on sale in the Welcome Centre.
